Hurdles.??

okay so i am doing hurdles this year for the very first time and not only am i scared that i am going to be super slow, i am scared to compete. so i am going to like yahh know work out harder. are there any good exercises or anything that in all honesty make you faster/better?|||Hurdles are very intimidating. The thing probably slowing you down the most is probably not your lack of exercise, but lack of experience and fear! It's hard to run full speed and barely clear and object, but think of pole-vaulters :). I would practice going over hurdles consistantly, setting up a row of 3-5 hurdles and jumping over them, focusing more on form than on speed. As you get more comfortable with proper form, you can slowly increase the speed that you attack each hurdle. Some good exercises would be plyometrics, box jumps, squat jumps, anything to get your fast twitch muscle fibers into the workouts. Best of luck!|||okay, so are you afriad of the hurdles, or the race itself? In other words, are you okay with competeing in the event without hurdles? I'm assuming that this is the case. In order to get used to hurdles, you have to practice, practice, practice them! You have to be completely comfortable with hurdles. Some things that may help are occasional weight training, perhaps twice a week. Do leg presses or squats, leg extentions, leg curles, and lunges.
