Where do i start for hurdles for track?

Im kinda interested into doing the 100 or 300 hurdles in track and was wondering what main focuses i should do. stretches and and workouts. im 6' 1" so i think i shouldnt have a problem getting over them, just need good form. and im decent at them, but the form isnt good|||Where? Well if youre in middle or high school (maybe even college), you should try out for track. Otherwise, see if you can buy some hurdles or borrow some and practice over them. There are lots of stretches you can do. One is when you sit down, keep your lead leg straight and bend your trail leg back so its folded next to you. (Google hurdle stretch). That is the position you should be going over the hurdles in. Another one is propping one leg on a fence with one leg on the ground, and sort of lean into your leg, then lean back. I find this helps make your knees feel better if you run a lot. Another stretch is keeping one leg down, holding a fence with 2 hands, and swinging your other leg from side to side. Bend your hips with the movement to stretch all the way out. You can also do a drill: jog towards the side of the hurdle and swing one leg over it, then swing it back down and continue jogging to the next hurdle. When you actually jump the hurdle, you should run up to it, keep your trail leg on the ground, and lift your lead leg above the hurdle. Then, when you begin to land, bring your back leg over, but slightly bend it. It should look like youre just running over the hurdle. By the way, take off before the piece of metal. Do not bend your leg so that your trail leg crosses over the line on the plastic piece of the hurdle, because that is called hooking and will get you disqualified in a meet. I guess thats it...good luck.|||I started out in our school's gym with indoor hurdles... only 12 inches tall, and worked on form, steps, and timing. Once I got steps down, since you're 6'1'' you should be able to 3 step your hurdles. Make sure you can go over the hurdles with either leg able to lead, that helps SO much! After you get your steps and timing, try going to the track and jumping 1 or 2 hurdles. You'll get the hang of it!|||The 100 meter is easier to do. Also stretch your legs in the position you have to jump over them.
