Are there any ways to prevent stuttering in the 300 hurdles?

I started running the 300 hurdles the beginning of the season. I don't have problem getting over the hurdle, but I have been stutter stepping. It has been frustrating me and my coach. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance :-D|||Ah, stutter stepping...always a problem for when you're nervous i find. first, just practice a lot with lead/trail leg drills, start on a lower hurdle setting and work your way up.

Also, do some strength work for explosiveness over the hurdle and confidence.

Try to speed up slightly going into the hurdle. if you keep that in mind, its VERY hard to stutter, because how can you stutter and speed up?

also, try to practice jumping off your other foot. that way, you'll be comfortable off of either foot, and be ready to jump regardless of which leg you're coming up on.

hope it helps!

. . .do you stutter-step right in front of the hurdle? . . . so you more or less, just stop, jump and run again? . . . it's actually easier to take 2 normal strides as opposed to 4 little ones . . . what I do with my hurdlers is put 5 -7 hurdles at relatively random distances and have them run over them making stride adjustments on the fly . . . it works very well ~ I currently have 2 400IM hurdlers who run low 63s . . . good luck!|||if you run the 100 hurdles you know they are higher and have the same distance between them, right?

so when you reach that distance when running 300 try to do the same stride length, and if you can go over w/ either leg then thats even better cuz it uses less thinking

also, dont take off too too early b/c i did that, i took off about a 1/4 of a stride early and hit the edge of the hurdle and fell and that was in the 100 in a race! talk about embarasing!!

good luck with the rest of your season! hope you get the 300 down, anyways there are only 10 hurdles, so you only have to do it 10 times per meet!|||try to change the length of your stride and don't be afraid to jump to early. if you nick the hurdle, its no biggy, it just pops back up. Thy to estimate weather you need to shorten or lengthen your stride about 10 feet before you jump.|||haha i have the exact same problem. when that happens in practice, i start again and just tell my self to run straight at the hurdle, that way you have to jump over the hurdle or you will run into it lol

hope this helps
