How to train for Track Sprinting & Hurdles?

I'm planning on trying out for the Sprint and Hurdles teams in about three weeks. What training exercises can I use to improve my endurance and speed? I have a large field next to my house so that's good, but what type of exercises should I do? What should I eat?





Any tips are appreciated!|||Take multivitamins and drink tons of water. Im a 4x1 and hurdler so yea. But i also throw shot and discus but that doesnt matter.


Eat fruits and vegetables. Proteins and whole grains. All the healthy stuff. Indulge after the season. :p


You should do fartlicks exerciese(run 20 jog 40) and keep going on. Make it harder for your self. Increase the lenth of the sprint and just multiply the sprint length by 2 for your jog recovery.


Also warm up and do a cool down strech. Cool down is VERY IMPORTANT strech everything and do 4 100 yard strides and ull be fine.


U can also do 150 yard sprints when you are in shape.

Gewd luck bro!!!|||you will definitly need to do conditioning work especially if you are going to do the 300 meter hurdels so try to run 4 300 meters at about 90% of your top speed with a 6 minute rest in between each run, do this every other day and on your off days do some light sprinting or jogging be sure to rest though so you can fully recover|||Sprinting, set yourself up some marked off distances. Run as fast as you can for the first one then walk the second keep this up until you complete all the areas set up. (Like a rectangle but it has been divided into sections, Run from one section one walk in second and so on) Stretch out and keep doing it if you feel your muscles becoming tight up. Hurdles Sit down on the ground legs straight to your front, do not move your legs touch your nose to your knees (Once you touch your knees stay (keep your nose touching your knees) for about 10 seconds, (if it burns it is good)


Hurdles, obtain so large boxes (size you can straddle) space them out in a straight line . Then start your running and jumping over them. Keep at it but do not hurt your self (If you feel any type of strange pain stop and seek out help at once)
